This year’s Homecoming was a first for my son. As a Freshman at The Woodlands High School, he decided to go with a group of friends. They didn’t exchange the traditional mums. Which, if you don’t know what those are, you should look them up. It’s a crazy Texas thing where you create these ribbon badges decorated with all kinds of stuffed animals and signage personalized for each kid’s sport or hobby. And of course, like most things in Texas, they are BIG! While mums weren’t part of the plan, Merek’s group had everything else worked out: photos, dinner, party bus, and after-party. It was a far cry from the Homecoming that I went to in High School. But, it was great to see their enthusiasm and fun as they marked this milestone.
