I have helped many clients translate their favorite portraits from their photo session into art for their homes. Sometimes this may be very easy as they may be replacing artwork they already have and the sizes are known. Many times however, we aren’t quite sure the best sizes or configurations for the room they have chosen. We can do it the old school way and cut out pieces of newspaper or craft paper to the possible sizes and tape them up on the wall or use graph paper to sketch out the various options. There are also programs and websites available to photographers that allow me to showcase your portraits in various sizes against standard backdrops of living rooms, fireplace mantles, above beds, along staircases etc. While all this works fine and allows us to visualize your artwork, I have found the best and most effective way is for me to actually show you options in your actual rooms. It is very simple really. I need a few measurements and a quick picture. A simple picture from a smart phone will work or I am available to come and take the picture as well.
Here is an example from some recent clients who are moving into a beautiful new home and want to order canvas Gallery Wraps for above their fireplace. They sent me a picture from their phone and provided me with the dimensions of the fireplace and mantle and I was able to show them these different size options. I find that it’s a great way to be confident that you are buying the right size and/or right number of prints for the wall you are decorating.
