It’s not often that I have a true newborn stay awake for an entire session. Yes, sometimes these sleepy little bundles wake up for a snack or during changing/posing, but normally they are so busy being adorable that they are asleep for the majority of the session. Not so with Miss Catherine. She was awake and alert for most of our time together. She patiently put up with us changing her clothes, adding hats and bows, and moving her into nests and onto different blankets. She was simply wonderful with no fussing and no crying, just quietly watching. It wasn’t until the very end when we laid her onto the giant bunny that shares her room with her, that she finally drifted off to sleep. The family wanted an in-home, natural light session using Miss Catherine’s nursery. So, I was just thrilled that she allowed us to incorporate so many of the little details that mom and dad wanted included: her grandmother’s baby bracelet, family hand-knitted blankets and hats, and a nest like the one that her big brother was photographed in as a newborn. All these little details, and her bright open eyes, made this session truly special.
